Psoriasis Treatment Options
Psoriasis is a condition that affects your skin and also your joints if left untreated. It can become severe and be a disability to you as well as being a negative factor on your quality of life.  A skin specialist can give you a proper diagnosis if you show signs and symptoms of psoriasis.  If you are given a positive diagnosis, getting appropriate psoriasis treatment is very important.
There is presently no known cure for psoriasis. Short term psoriasis treatment seems to revolve around the use of drugs. These drugs will only clear up your psoriasis for a short period of time. And, as with any drug treatment, it cannot be predicted how you will respond in comparison to the response of others.
There is also the option of a natural psoriasis treatment. All of these treatments have their individual positives and negatives, so it is best to ask your skin doctor for guidance in choosing the one best suited for you.
There are creams available, like Dermasis for mild to moderate cases of psoriasis. These can help to relieve the itching and flaking of your skin. They are available without a prescription.
For moderate to severe cases of psoriasis, photo treatments are available that involves ultraviolet light being applied to your skin.
If psoriasis becomes disabling, there are systemic treatments available. These psoriasis treatments are taken orally or by injection or infusion.
There is a new alternative psoriasis treatment available which uses fish known as “Doctor fish”. These fish live and breed in outdoor pools of Turkish spas. They eat the dead skin when psoriasis is present, which allows healthy skin to continue to grow. Some patients have reported succes with this psoriasis treatment.
Researchers have come to the conclusion in the past ten years that psoriasis is somewhat genetic. It also appears to affect people between the ages of fifteen and thirty five. Caucasians are more likely to get psoriasis. Hopefully, with continued research, a cure will be found for the sufferers of psoriasis.
